Missguided launching their plus size clothing range AW14

I have just learned about this brand – Missguided from the UK, they are launching their plus size clothing range this month (UK16-24), and you can already shop online for the collection.
I like how they don’t try to differentiate the plus size range and the 0-12 range, as that’s what most fashion companies do nowadays, which sucks. And so it’s closer to the “straight size” high street fashion trends, and we won’t feel left out on the latest looks.

I mean look at this gorgeous faux fur vest!missguided-005-lo-res
Here below are some of my favourite looks in their latest collection.

Sport Chic

I play with Polyvore from time to time and I have been on it for 7 years! I can’t believe how fast time past, it’s telling me in my face that I haven’t done much in the past 7 years for a personal goal. It is a good reminder that I need to be more constructive from now on.This post spiked my urge to blog again as I am getting more and more into the sport chic style and I have a new found love for sneakers. Remember when we were younger ( or some of you still are), we would go out in really high heels and stilettos? It’s ok if you live in a city like Toronto where you drive most of the time and that everywhere is flat, but in Hong Kong, it’s stairs, slopes and rocky roads everywhere! I have no idea how I endured the pain at all. I also remember the day after a night out, I have to stay in just to rest my feet for the whole afternoon. It’s THAT serious.

I haven’t blogged in a couple of months since I have
taken up night school. Exam coming up and soon I will be going into
phase two. I guess this is one of the personal goals that I have been
trying to achieve without realising it!

Although I haven’t been blogging in a while, but I am still very active on Instagram, it’s an easy tool to post daily for one. Also It’s not time consuming so I could stay off social media as much as I could just so I can max out the time I enjoy myself in real life!

Here are 2 looks in the past couple of months I have posted up re Sport Chic-ish styling.

Plus size Styling : Back to Basic – Plain White Tee

Sure we plus size girls like to talk fashion nowadays. We do like to play with different trends and different style of clothes. It’s like little kids who once only get to play with wooden blocks, now getting their hands on an iphone and won’t leave it, it’s colourful, innovative and such fun!

But you cannot deny the power of the classic wooden block ; which in fashion would be the timeless item – a plain white tee.

The simplest thing is the best, and I am about to promote its magic.

Here is me wearing a plain white tee which I got from Monki.
Their size L can fit my 44″ bust (yes, there I said it, I
expose my privacy for your convenience). It is round neck with shorter
hem that sits just on my muffin top, it is made in 100% cotton, in a
thin body hugging material but apparently it’s not too sheer. I wear a nude
colour bra underneath, and even the bra themselves has a subtle jacquard
on them, somehow it doesn’t show much, which is good. The best of it is I can
style it in many ways I want.

The Plain white tee is also just a “new idea” in the plus size world,
we for a long time believe that we cannot wear any thing white, white
is such a colour that shows all the rolls and bumps we have compare to
black or any dark coloured clothing. In fact, if you know how to choose
the right shape and material that suits you, it will be the best weapon
you have in your closet.

Lately I have been struggling between the two –

A. following trends, playing with new toys
B. Keeping it real and classy.

shopaholic and the environmentalist in me are having a power battle,
but of course for the love of the earth, eventually “green peace” will

There are these brands that offer the plain white tee, and i have no idea which one is best.
I guess I need people to tell me in the comment section as it’s not easy to find a very good quality one which you can wear for years. One thing though is I do recommend a medium round neck which is closer to your collar bone, it brings out the best feature on your body.

As for which shape is best for you, this is very tricky. You need to
know yourself first. Which shape do you want? Do you want a boxy tee for
a street style feel? or a feminine style that shows your curve? Higher or
lower crew neck, V neck, off shoulder? So many different styles.
If you have no
idea which one suits you the best, you can always email me at curvasian (AT) gmail dot com with a
photo of you and I can give you free consultancy about it.

My Plus size fashion picks for the new year celebration!

It’s the last day of the year!
It’s been a very steady year for me, I have been more productive than ever and I have a newly found confident in me that has secretly been building up for years, which I am grateful of.

I have learned that as long as we stay positive, keep a balance in life, i.e.

1. Spend your time and effort building & improving yourself to benefit your health physically and mentally. Read more, learn more and be humble.

2. Care about the people around you who cares about you. When they are down, listen to them rant. If you must, try not to lecture or be opinionated unless you know it inside out to give advice. Be in their shoes – think in their perspective, analyse with them and solve problems together. Everybody can use a friend who listens and know who they really are.

3. Let go of the past, if anything sad happened, learn to accept and place them deep in your heart and not to mention it too much again.

4. Be Brave and patience. Do what You love as long as it doesn’t affect others.

Money is not important.
Possessions are not important.
Power is not important.

Then there is nothing to be scared of anymore, and I can live my life to the fulness!
I can’t wait to embrace 2014 and see what I can do with ME! And even If I don’t do anything, I will keep up to my own level and be a respectful woman.

Have a Wonderful New Year treating yourself really good 🙂

While I am at it, here is the outfit I would choose if I were to attend a glamorous party tonight.

Top 5 Plus size Fashion Magazine

I have started reading fashion magazines since I was around 13 years old, and I have been a chubby girl since I was 10. Reading all these Fashion magazines like Vogue, Marie Claire, then i-D, Dazed and confused with almost always Size 00 models in there, was obviously not good for my mental health.Well of course after years of confidence building, I don’t really care about body size now. I believe every size could be beautiful, because beauty starts from your feeling within. If you were born with fast metabolism, never had to care what you eat because you can easily stay slim, you may not have to go through as much as we do, nonetheless, we all have image/body issues, confidence issues periodically. I have learned that, one must feel comfortable in thier own skin before one can feel comfortable enhancing their natural beauty with fashion statements. Just remember, you don’t have look like a model to feel beautiful and have confidence in yourself. Appearance is only a part of who we are.

With E-magazines being ever so popular nowadays, it’s fairly easy to get our hands on some Plus size Fashion Magazines where you can relate to easier; compare to all the magazines out there which don’t even mention where you can get that cool jacket in your size, these are the best for us plump ladies! Plus all the features about body&mind confidence, positive lessons in life, it’d certainly serve as a healthy potion every month for your brain.

Here are my top 5 picks.

Manik Mag – www.Manikmag.com  #lifethrowscurves

A plus size community. This is a place to come to if you want to participate, discuss about different issues as a plus size lady. I love this community and I love the women featured in it. They are such a happy, positive bunch that you would want to have around in your cyber space. Apart from reading their e-mag. Follow their instagram and tag your photos with #lifethrowscurves. You will feel like you have an additional family

Dare Magazine – www.daremag.ca

My favorite plus size mag as of now. I have always wanted to read a glossy that is exactly like Glamour UK, full of fun, high street style which should be more of my signature at the moment, and I see this potential in them! Seeing they have only been published 3 season, this mag certainly has great potential and space to grow.

Plus Model Magazine – www.plus-model-mag.com #pmmlook

The name says it, you want to know how beautiful a plus size model could look after being dolled up? you could totally use the styling ideas and do the same! A rather mature mag I’d say, glamourous is their staple – for the sophisticated ladies who like sequin, one piece shift dresses. Also, don’t miss Dec ’13 issue if you are are inspired by strong independent woman, as they have loads of interviews with people in the plus size industry sharing their stories in this issue.

Skorch Magazine www.skorchmagazine.com  #skorchmagazine

Skorch Mag is the resource of #bodypositivity and street style fashion. One of the main reason you will want to read it every month is their #Honormycurves Column by Honor Curves. Our favorite heroine Honorine, hand-pick these strong, positive women who are being themselves in every fashion to be featured in it.
I was honored to be one of them in the Jan 2013 issue as that’s when I have finally overcome my shyness and built up confidence to start showing my own face publicly, for the love of plus size fashion styling. On the left is my fellow ig friend – plus size model/ plus advocate Miss Ava Sfez instagram.com/avassfez) 🙂

The Curvy Fashionista www.thecurvyfashionista.com #tcfstyle

Last but not least, TCF is the most informative plus size fashion website. You can find all the latest plus size fashion resources you need up here. Marie Denee is for sure one of the hardest working woman I see in the plus size industry, she must be working around the clock as you can see feeds, news, updates, tweets, press release publishing all the time on her website/FB/Twitter page.
If you are seeking a plus size crash course? look no further.

The Honor mention
Slink Magazine http://www.slinkmagazine.com

They don’t have a flip book so it’s not easy to read through their site, and also they are charging 3.95 pound per issue so I have not really read it before, hence I cannot put in my top 5 pick.
I have to say they have the most awesome fashion editorials among all, and they also cover a lot of different categories which most of the other mags lack of.
